Marilyn Anne Scott Sawyer at the age of 71, went to Heaven on June 9th, 2020 in Oceanside, California. She was born in Newburgh, New York to the late Harold and Rea Scott on May 21st, 1949. Marilyn spent her life in New York, North Carolina and Florida, later relocating to Maui which she considered home. This is where she raised her two daughters in the city of Kahului. Marilyn was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She was a gifted seamstress, creative chef, crossword puzzle wizard, classic movie aficionado, avid fan of the San Francisco 49ers and NFL football, Chuck Norris lover, classic rock guru and practical joker who made the most of her experiences. Her humor, storytelling and laugh were contagious. Marilyn was a Senior Soldier member and longtime volunteer of The Salvation Army Kahului Corps on Maui until her relocation to California to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her two daughters Shannon Scott (Julius) Murphy, Myriah Sawyer (Anthony) Begonia; sister Linda Smith and brothers Harold Scott and Edwin Scott; five grandchildren, Noah and Jonathan Murphy, Logan, Addyson and Liam Begonia. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date on Maui, Hawaii. She wanted to be remembered as a Maui Girl where she will be laid to rest among friends and Ohana. Lyrical excerpt from the song "Jewels" by William O. Cushing (Based from Scripture; Malachi 3:17; Zechariah 9:16) He will gather, He will gather the gems of His Kingdom; All the pure ones, all the bright ones, His loved and His own; Like the stars of the morning, His bright crown adorning, They shall shine in their beauty, bright gems for His crown.
