Craig
Pointer of Newburgh, NY, an Army Veteran passed away peacefully on
Monday, December 17, 2012 at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center of Bronx, NY,
at the age of 60. He was the son of the late Commillar “Ment” Brown and Samuel
“Sam” Pointer. Craig was born April 13, 1952 in Newburgh, NY. While living in
Newburgh he was a longtime employee of IBM. He had a great love for his wife,
children, grandchildren, cars, electronics, Pepsi Cola soda and Burger King. He
will be greatly missed by his wife, Brenda Dunham-Pointer; six children: five
girls: Sharhonda Pointer-Bell (Brian), Niqua Pointer, both of Philadelphia, PA.,
La’Tiera Kenney, Cerria, and Monica Pointer, and son, Craig Pointer, all of
Newburgh, NY; four brothers: Frankie, Holland, Gary, and Kenneth Geter; four
sisters: Lynn, Linda Ann, Rachel Geter and Lucretia Davis, all of Newburgh, NY;
three sisters-in-law: Alice Cosby-Wolmack, Theresa Hayes-Brandon and Dorothy
Fields-Hayes; two brothers-in-law: Willie V. Hayes and John Brandon; a very
special cousin, Geraldo “Jerry” Deporres; special friends: John Brown and Lloyd
Cotten; in addition eight grandchildren: Jordan, Sincere, Jared, Jason, Paris,
Justin, Zia and Julian; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and
other relatives and many friends. Craig was predeceased by his parents; sister,
Brenda Morgan, and brother, Glenn “Fuzzy” Wolmack, and his in-laws: Artis “AC”
and Juanita “Hose” Dunham. Mr. Craig Pointer will lie in repose from 10 to 11
a.m. today, December 28, 2012 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 76 First Street,
Newburgh, NY. Services will be at 11 a.m. at the church. Superintendent John
Borden Sr. will officiate. Burial, with full military honors, will be at Orange
County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY. Professional
services entrusted to Rhodes Funeral Homes, 259 Walsh Avenue, New Windsor, NY
