Gary Franklin Griggs - Class of 1963

    Gary Franklin Griggs, 77, of Marlboro, NY, entered into rest at home surrounded by family, on December 5, 2020. Gary, the son of the late Franklin and Vera Griggs, was born in Newburgh, NY on September 20, 1943. He married Patricia Cantwell-Rhodes on October 11, 1970 in Walden, NY. Gary graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1963 and was a 53 year member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union, Local 373. He was a Master Plumber, an excellent mechanic, and he was proud of his profession. He loved NASCAR, enjoyed fishing, gardening, wood working, and was a skilled tradesman. Gary will be missed and best known for his willingness to help others. He was a kind and gentle, reliable and generous, selfless man. He was and will always be the best husband, father, father-in-law, grandpa and papa, that our family was blessed to have. He is survived by his wife, Patricia of 50 years, his son, Christopher Griggs, (Kimberly) of Poughkeepsie, their three children; Karter, Carsen and Kolten, daughter, Dana-Marie Bolduc of Wappingers Falls, her son, Evan of Idaho. His sisters, Cheryle (Bruce) Bayard, JoAnn Russo and his brother, Donald Griggs. He is also survived by his sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, Joan (Phil) Kirschen, Judy (Ken) Schwartz, and David (Pamela) Rhodes and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Steven Patrick Griggs, his sister-in-laws, Linda Griffith, and Susan Griggs, and brother-in-law, Anthony Russo. Calling hours will be held this Sunday, December 13, 2020 from 1 to 3pm at Hudson Valley Funeral Home. 239 Quassaick Ave. (Rt.94) New Windsor, NY. A burial will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (www.michaeljfox.org/donation) or Hudson Valley Hospice (www.hvhospice.org/donate).
