Curtis Smith - Class of 1979

    Curtis E. Smith, Sr., a resident of Newburgh, NY. transitioned unexpectedly on December 18th, 2020 at St Luke's Hospital at the age of 59. Curtis was born August 10th, 1961 to Rev. Helen Lindsay and the late Jimmie Smith Jr. graduated from Laurinburg Institute then attended Cloud County Community College and Marymount in Kansas. Curtis loved life. His presence was all known whether it was a game changer dunk or a silence breaking Hallelujah. Curtis was a brick mason at local union 5 by trade, but no job was too small or complicated for him to complete. He was an avid fisher and could fry a mean piece of fish. Curtis believed in Christ and was active on his Christian journey under the leadership of Pastor Davis at Ebenezer Baptist church. Curtis will be missed dearly by his mother Rev. Helen Lindsay: all of his children Lindale Smith, Cleveland Graham, Maurise Williams, Ciara Smith, Curtis Smith Jr. and Caleb Smith(Bailey): his grandchildren Kimani, Lakyra, Jaylin, Kataysiah, Ciani and Cyrus; One great grandson Ah'maz and one godson Abdulla Sharieff Hakim. Baheem is also survived by his siblings Laura "Meatball" Smith, James "Sha" Smith, Angela Smith-Hall (James), Beverly Johnson, Juliet Lindsay, Charrisse Lindsay, Nicole Powell, James Boykin and Robert Smith, "A brotherhood of Goldbacks", a host of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Curtis was predeceased by his father Jimmie Smith Jr. and Dec. William Lindsay. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Curtis Smith memorial fund at Brooks funeral home. Services will be at Ebenezer Baptist Church 76 First Street Newburgh, NY. A public viewing Sunday January 3rd, 2021 from 5pm to 9pm. Due to COVID-19 regulations, IMMEDIATE FAMILY ONLY Monday 4th, 2021 at 11 am. Immediately following the services Interment will be at Cedar Hill cemetery.- August 10, 1961 - December 18, 2020
