John Joseph Anzalone, 57 of Ulster Park, NY passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Montefiore Hospital, Bronx, NY due to cardiac arrest. The son of the late Michael & Wilma (Hunter) Anzalone, John was a former resident of Newburgh, NY and a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy Class of 1981. A former auto mechanic, John bravely battled serious medical conditions for many years while maintaining a good disposition and always remaining positive. Despite his illnesses, John loved life and learning new things. He had an amazing memory for details and a vast knowledge of trivia. John leaves behind his longtime companion, Cynthia Ernst; daughter, Michelle Fisherman; brother, Nicholas Anzalone; brother, Michael (Tracey) Anzalone; and sister, Anna (Gary) Steinhauer and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his sister, Jill Moglia. The family has entrusted the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, Town of Esopus, with the care and cremation arrangements for John. Due to the pandemic, a memorial to celebrate John's life will be announced at a later date.
