Margaret Aikens Antona - Class of 1947

    Margaret "Marge" Aikens Antona, 92 years old of Washingtonville, NY, passed away in the afternoon on Tuesday, January 5th, 2021. Marge resided with her daughter Theresa until the last months, where she passed at Campbell Hall Rehabilitation. A lifelong resident of Orange County NY, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was working for the telephone company when she had met the love of her life, Joe at Avalon Roller Skating rink in Newburgh, NY on Easter Sunday in 1951. Marge and Joe married on June 22nd, 1957 where her life as an only child quickly changed, marrying into a family where Joe was the youngest of nine siblings. They resided in Joe's family home where they lived with their five children; and her mother-in-law, Josephine, who loved to prepare for the family her homemade Italian dishes with ingredients from the family garden and fresh home baked breads and pastas. They attended St. Mary's Church together and treating the children to fresh hard rolls and donuts on Sunday mornings became tradition along with family vacations to Barnegat Light LBI where they would spend a week to two weeks and brought friends along with them. Marge is preceded in death by her husband, Joe; father, Arnold Aikens and mother, Rose; her grandchildren, Kyle Anderson and Lacole Antona. Marge is survived by one sibling of Joe her sister-in-law, Marguerite Re; five children: Joseph Antona Jr. and wife Lynn, John Antona, Theresa Antona-Cowton with Walker Pavez, Michael Antona, Mary Colvard and husband John; grandchildren: Elizabeth Antona, Craig and Matthew Agazzi- Cowton, Jen Antona, Joseph Antona III, Lesley and Ian Seriachick, Natasha Antona, Michael Antona and Chris Anderson; great-grandchildren: Madison, Hayden and Sara Frank, Emanuel, Steven, Angel, Alicia and Lanette Greene, Wyatt and Weston Antona and Brayden Agazzi-Cowton; along with extended cousins, nieces and nephews. Arrangements will be by David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North St., Washingtonville, NY with current travel/quarantine restrictions a memorial service & flowers/donations to be announced for June 2021.
