Shirley Elizabeth Conklin Schlott, NFA class of 1954, was born in Cornwall, NY in 1936. She joined her deceased parents Oscar B. and Mary S. Conklin and brothers Oscar E. and Charles E. Conklin on December 14, 2020. Upon graduation Shirley became the secretary for the Chaplains at Stewart Air Force Base, before starting her career as homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother of two and both Santa Claus and Easter Bunny to family and friends. Shirley married Ray J. Schlott in 1955. They have two children Ray J. Schlott Jr. of Florida and Jo-Ann L. Marques (husband Michael) of Colorado. During Shirley's 65 years of marriage, she lived in seven states several of them more than once. Shirley was an outstanding homemaker creating a welcoming environment in over 20 new residences in locations from coast to coast. Shirley is survived by her husband, children, sisters-in-law Marion Conklin and Meta Brooks, son-in law Michael Marques, grandchildren Kimberly Ann Marques (husband Matt Smith), Ryann Elizabeth Moore (husband BJ), and her great grand-daughter Josephine R. Moore. Fondly remembered by Shirley were favorite nieces Linda Petry (Edward) and Lori Binder (Jed), nephew Jeff Brooks and their families and grand-children. Funeral arrangements are private with a celebration of Shirley's life being planned for the future when the current virus concerns have mitigated.
