Marvin A. Fitts - Class of 1949

      Marvin A. Fitts of Newburgh, NY, passed away Monday, January 18, 2021, in Gardiner. He was 89. The son of Rudolph A. Fitts and Gertrude Moses Fitts, he was born April 21, 1931 in Norristown, PA. Marvin served in the USAF and was a proud member of the Air Commandos. He attained his pilot's license as a civilian and enjoyed flying his Cherokee Piper all around the Hudson Valley. He was a friend to all and enjoyed striking up conversations with anyone he met. He loved antiquing and collected vintage record albums and radios. He had fond memories of growing up in Newburgh, NY and in later years he and Vivian loved their life on Long Beach Island, NJ. He also worked as a business manager for Mount St. Mary College, Newburgh, NY. He was a member of the Masonic Kerem Lodge #1074, Newburgh, NY. He was the widower of Vivian Fitts. Survivors include his son Michael A. Fitts & his wife Carole of Montgomery, NY, daughter Beth Bonsignore & her husband Mark of North Carolina, daughter Gail Nass & her husband Mitchell of Florida, daughter Karen DeGiorgio & husband PJ of Gardiner; 8 Grandchildren: Melissa (Ian), Ryan (Caitlyn), Dana (John), Joshua, Zachary (Jinting), Katelin (Patrick), Tyler (Megan), Julia, Justice, Gianna; 7 Great Grandchildren: Ella, Hannah, Luca, Giancarlo, Viviana, Thomas, Mason; sister Marian Bagnall & her husband Jim of Massachusetts; and brother-in-law Ron Klein of Florida. Marvin also leaves behind several nieces and nephews as well as life-long cherished friends. Services will take place privately at the convenience of the family. Entombment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Newburgh, NY.
