Charles Messina was welcomed into God's arms on February 3, 2021 at Montefiore St. Luke's-Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh. He was 73 years old. He was born on July 11, 1947 in Newburgh, NY. Charles was the son of the late Angelo and Harriet (Jones) Messina. Charles graduated from Newburgh Free Academy, Newburgh, NY and worked for IBM, Poughkeepsie, NY until his retirement. Survivors include his siblings; brother Richard (Carol) Messina and brother Anthony (Helen) Messina. Nephews and nieces: Richard, Jr. (Melissa) Messina, Michael Messina, Kelli Ann (Fred) Messina-Butwell, Angelo Messina, Anthony (Lori) Messina, Zachary (Killian) Messina and several great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Angelo Messina and his mother Harriet Messina. Charles was very involved in serving his church and was a sacristan at St. Francis of Assisi Church helping Father Bill on a daily basis. Charles worked in the gift shop at Our Lady Queen of Peace House of Prayer on Achill Island in County Mayo in Ireland. He also led prayers in the chapel while he was there. Charles also volunteered at the House of Prayer in Texas and several other locations. A mass of Christian burial will be offered on Monday morning, February 8, 2021 at 11am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 145 Benkard Avenue, Newburgh, NY to which family and friends are invited. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Route 9W, New Windsor, NY. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to The DiDonato Funeral Service, Inc. (845) 236-4300,
