Lawrence Allen Roundtree also known as Tree, a lifelong resident of Newburgh, NY transitioned to heaven on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown, NY. Lawrence was born in Newburgh, NY to the late Freddie Roundtree Jr. and Lena Johnson Roundtree on November 16, 1959. Lawrence graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1978, then attended Fayetteville State University and SUNY Oswego State University. He later became a dedicated correctional officer at Fishkill Correctional Facility and then finished his career at Downstate Correctional Facility. Lawrence retired from his career after 34 hardworking years in November of 2019. Lawrence invested his time in numerous entrepreneurial endeavors such as promoting parties, establishing his successful cleaning business DL Productions while employing locals in the community, and running his self-owned convenient store business on Liberty Street in Newburgh, NY. Lawrence was a loving and nurturing father. He loved to spend time with his children and beloved pet Juju. He embraced being an exceptional father. Lawrence enjoyed watching and playing the game of basketball. He also was an avid chess player and enjoyed traveling the world. Survivors include his daughter Camille Roundtree of Raleigh, NC; daughter Jaleesa Roundtree of Graham, NC; son Amani Roundtree of Durham, NC; son Yasayre Roundtree of Beacon NY, daughter Londyn Roundtree of Newburgh, NY; Granddaughter Bailey Roundtree of Graham, NC; Grandson Cameron Knight of Raleigh, NC; former wife Regina Roundtree of Durham, NC; sister Lena Glenese Wallace (McKinley) of Delray Beach, FL; sister Catherine Cliff of Rochester, NY; brother Frederick Roundtree of Albany, NY; brother Terry Roundtree (Lynda) of Lucas, TX; brother Anthony Roundtree of Newburgh, NY; Nieces: Kriya Roundtree, Krisha Roundtree, Kenyonna Nicole Cliff, Cheyenne Roundtree, Baylen Roundtree, Teagan Roundtree; Nephews: Thomas Cliff, Frederick Roundtree III, Rashaun Roundtree, Skyler Roundtree, Seth Roundtree, Chase Roundtree; Lifelong Friend Lamont Melvin; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by father Freddie Roundtree Jr and mother Lena Johnson Roundtree. Lawrence will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all that knew him.
