Charles Arthur Leo - Class of 1944

    Charles Arthur Leo of Newburgh, NY passed away on March 25, 2021 at the age of 95. He was born on January 3, 1926 in Newburgh, NY the son of the late William and Constance (Maffia) Leo. Charles served in the Merchant Marines during World War II, which he was rightfully proud of his entire life. He worked hard to provide a good life for his family and upon retirement spent his winters fishing in Chokoloskee, FL. He loved to build and tinker and could usually be found with a tool close at hand. Charles was preceded in death by the love of his life, Gloria Leo, in 2013. He missed her every day and has now been reunited with her. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann Dickinson of Newburgh; his son, William Leo and his wife, Janice of Florida; four grandchildren: Janet Bost and her husband, Charles, Laurie Dickinson, Lisa Driscoll and her husband, Mike, and Sean Leo; four great-grandchildren: Gabrielle Dickinson, CJ and Tommy Bost, and Dakoda Driscoll; and several beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m., Thursday, April 1. A funeral service will be held at 4:30 p.m. at Hudson Valley Funeral Home, Inc., 239 Quassaick Ave (Rte. 94) New Windsor, NY. Please know that there is an occupancy limitation which may cause a wait time, please be respectful of your time visiting. Facial covering must be worn in the funeral home at all times, and social distancing must be practiced. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Burial of ashes will held at a later date.
