William A. Terwilliger - Class of 1954

William A. Terwilliger, of the Town of Newburgh, entered into rest on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. He was 85. Son of the late George J. and Lena (Lander) Terwilliger, he was born May 17, 1935 in Newburgh, NY. William was a retired manager for American Felt and Filter, New Windsor, NY. He loved country music and was a lifelong, self-taught musician, using the stage name “Willie Shane”. Willie played guitar, bass and was the lead vocalist for the band Country Gentleman. He continued to play until earlier this year. Survivors include a son, Anthony (Kim Rodd) Terwilliger of St. Albans, VT; a daughter, Cheryl (William)Hall of the Town of Newburgh; four grandchildren, Dara (Aaron) Kopaskie, Cody Benedict, Briana (Josh Jewett) Terwilliger, and Ali (Lucas Hall) Terwilliger; seven great grandchildren, Savannah Collins, Addison Kopaskie, AJ Kopaskie, Camden Hall, Hudson Hall, Tucker Jewett and Otto Jewett; a brother, George (Patricia) Terwilliger; and many brothers, and sister-in-laws, and nieces and nephews. Private cremation has taken place at Cedar Hill Crematory. Plans for a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
