Robert Otto - Class of 1943

        Robert M. Otto entered eternal rest Tuesday April 13, 2021 at Wingate at Dutchess nursing home. On June 28, 1925 in Newburgh, NY Bob was born to his parents Lena B. (Smith) and Charles Otto. Bob enlisted into the Marines in 1943 and served in World War II in the Pacific Theater. After the military he returned to Newburgh where he married Paula Coutant (Highland, NY). Bob served in the City of Newburgh Police Dept. where he retired as a Lieutenant. After his retirement he repaired antique clocks. Bob was also a member of the Bull Family (Line of John). Bob was 50 yr. member of the NAWCC and life member of VFW post 973 and 1st Marine Division Assoc. Bob is predeceased by his parents, two brothers Curtis and Arlo, one sister Barbara O'Heaney, and daughter-in-law Theresa Otto. Bob is survived by his wife Paula, two sons Robert P Otto in South Dakota and David Otto and wife Susan of Newburgh, daughter, Paula and husband Alan Zanker of North Carolina; four grandchildren Cheryl and Misty of South Dakota, Leah of Arizona and Daniel of North Carolina; three great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. A memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family. We would like to thank the staff at Wingate of Dutchess for all the hard work and care Bob received over the two years he was there.  (camera shy) - June 28, 1925 - April 13, 2021
