Kermeta Althiser Warden - Class of 1970

      Kermeta Althiser Warden, 68, of Town of Newburgh, NY entered into rest on April 17, 2021. The daughter of the late Kermit and Peg (Schimmel) Althiser, she was born in Newburgh, NY. Kookie was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy. She ran a food truck called "The Witches Kitchen", and will be lovingly remembered for her love of Halloween, and how she decorated her entire house and yard on Route 52, treating and scaring several hundreds every year on Halloween night. She also participated in The Haunted House at Hodgson's Farms. Kookie was a member of the Good Will Women's Auxiliary for 40 years, the Mid-Hudson Horseshoe Pitcher's Assn., and was the Tiger Cub Coordinator for Pack 312 Cub Scouts at Meadow Hill School. She was also a die-hard Miami Dolphins fan, and loved spending time at Caroga Lake in the Adirondacks. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Gary L. Warden; stepson Gary L. Warden Jr. and his wife Janet of Ulster Park; granddaughter Mya Warden of Ulster Park; and grandson Jayson Scott Warden of Marlboro. She was predeceased by her son, Jason L. Warden. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 22 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A service and entombment will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 23 in Cedar Hill Mausoleum, Newburgh. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kookie's memory may be made to Good Will Fire Dept. Women's Auxiliary, 1 S. Plank Rd., Newburgh, NY 12550. - August 8, 1952 ~ April 17, 2021
