Joan E. Hegarty, of Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY entered into eternal rest on May 19, 2021 at her residence. She was 85 years old. The daughter of the late Michael Thomas Bennett and Elenor Rose (Dunn) Bennett, Joan was born on February 25, 1936 in New Windsor, NY. Joan graduated from the Westchester School of Nursing in Grasslands, NY and started her nursing career at Grasslands Hospital, now known as Westchester Medical Center. Joan was a Nurse at The Cornwall Hospital in Cornwall, NY. And after retirement, she became a School Nurse at Cornwall-On-Hudson Elementary School in Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her loving husband: Dennis E. Hegarty. She is survived by her daughters: Coleen J. Simoni and her husband Frederick of New Windsor, NY and Patricia M. Hegarty of Dallas, TX; her sons: Patrick J. Hegarty of Walden, NY and Dennis E. Hegarty, Jr. of Cornwall-On-Hudson, Kerry Ann and Caitlin Marie Hegarty; and one great grandchild: Payton Marie Spinelli. Joan was predeceased by her sisters: Katie Bennet, Eleanor Davidson and Claire McSinsky. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, May 24th at 11:15 a.m. at St. Thomas Cemetery, Cornwall, NY.
