Elizabeth Caldwell - Class of 1980 - At the dawn of a new day on May 21, 2021, Elizabeth "Diane" Caldwell obeyed the Lord when she came unto Him All ye that labored and are heavy laden and the Lord gave her rest. Elizabeth Diane Caldwell was born to the late Ernest D. Caldwell and Willie Mae McClain Caldwell on August 29, 1962 in Newburgh, NY. She attended Newburgh Schools and graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in June 1980. The highlight of her high school years was touring the United Kingdom. Diane attended several programs and was trained in Social Work. Diane had a way with people; she helped many young parents get their children started with their education when she worked at NCAC Head-start for several years. Her last place of employment, until she retired due to her illness, was at CVR New York, White Plains, NY as a Section 8 Housing Manager. Diane was the life of the party at events. She loved watching the cooking channel and she loved cooking. All the kids in the family loved her macaroni and cheese. Diane also loved reading all types of magazines. Sometimes when she would go to the grocery store, it seems like she would spend more money on magazines than the groceries! Her favorite entertainer of all times was the one and only King of Pop himself, "Michael Jackson" mainly because they shared the same birthday. Like the popular song, "you wanna be starting something" "She" was always starting something! Diane's early Christian training came from the Mt. Carmel C.O.C., where she was very active serving on the Junior Usher Board, Youth Choir Member, DCYF, Sunday School and Voices of Mt. Carmel. She later joined PHJC Modena under the leadership of Pastor Dolly Ann Briggs. Diane loved her children and family. She leaves to cherish her memories four children; three sons: Allaeye Jones of Pennsylvania, Allah-Gehovah Jones (Robin) of Oklahoma City, OK, Xavier Eusty of San Jose, CA; one daughter, Princess T. Lewis (Shawn) of San Francisco, CA; two brothers, Ernest D. Caldwell (Vera) and Ezra D. Caldwell (Pamela); one sister, Ellen D. Caldwell; six grandchildren: Malaysia Rose, Alayah Elizabeth, Aurora, Arnage, Dona and Fhanterrell; two nieces, Destiny and Casey; five nephews: Ernest, Julius, Lennell, Nicholas and Demetrius; one uncle, James T. McClain; one aunt, Lena P. McClain; Godmother, Betty Mitchel; three Godbrothers: Tony, Damon and Sherrell; one Godsister, Valerie Mitchel; one Goddaughter, Tiona Hayes; one Godson, Jason Colon; one special friend, Chester Lane and a host of great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased in death by her mother and father, Ernest and Willie Mae Caldwell; paternal grandparents, John Lewis and Annie Ruth Caldwell; maternal grandparents, Fondo and Elizabeth McClain; two uncles, Elbert "Tiny" McClain and Milford Caldwell; one aunt, Nina Pearl Darden. Diane was likened to the Woman with the issue of Blood. She touched the hem of His Garment and today she has been made "whole". Ms. Caldwell will have a Walk through from 10 a.m. to Noon, Friday, June 4th at Mt. Carmel COCDOC, 1524 Route 300, Newburgh, NY; Funeral service at Noon at the church. Pastor Dollyann Newkirk-Briggs will officiate. (Face Mask and Social Distancing REQUIRED). Interment takes place at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh, NY.
