Stephanie R. Compoly Cracchiolo  passed away in Highland, NY, on Thursday, June 3, 2021. The eldest of three daughters, Stephanie was born in Pensacola, FL, on June 18, 1946, to the late Stephen and Janet Compoly. Her family relocated often during her father's military career, with Stephanie's early years spent in Florida, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and New Jersey, before her family settled permanently in Newburgh, NY. After graduating from Newburgh Free Academy, Stephanie worked at West Point and Stewart Air Base. It was at her cashier job at the Grand Union supermarket, however, where Stephanie met her future husband, Vito, while still teenagers. A loving stay-at-home mom, she was also an avid hobbyist for many years, devoting time to her flower gardens and crafts. She loved visiting craft fairs and cherished the family's frequent summer destinations: Cape May, NJ, and the former Crestview Lake recreation area in New Windsor. Stephanie had a boundless love of animals: through the years the family home has been shared with dogs, cats, and other beloved pets, including her cheerful Cocker Spaniel, "Lady". Stephanie is survived by her husband of 53 years, Vito Cracchiolo, Jr., a retiree of Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp.; sons: Darren Cracchiolo (Jessica) of New Windsor, NY, and Bryan Cracchiolo (Eugenio) of White Plains, NY; sisters: Jan Marie McHale of Marlboro, NY, and Deborah Horos (John) of Newburgh, NY; sisters-in-law: Bella Mackey of Newburgh, NY, and Dorothy Lanspery (Robert) of Montgomery, NY; aunts and uncles: Dorothy Suto of Newburgh, NY, Jean Suto of Highland, NY, and Joseph Suto of Cornwall, NY; together with many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and cousins. Stephanie was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Salvatore Cracchiolo, Sr., her sister-in-law, Mary Fisher (Cracchiolo), her nephew Salvatore Cracchiolo, Jr., and by several other beloved family members. Visitation will be held Monday, June 7 from 4-7 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday at 10 a.m., with burial following in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hudson Valley SPCA, 940 Little Britain Rd, New Windsor, NY 12553. - June 18, 1946 - June 3, 2021
