Andrea Vilela Granieri - Class of 1977

    Andrea C. Vilela Granieri of Newburgh, New York, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021. She was 61 years young. Andrea is the daughter of the late Joseph A. Vilela and Lucy M. (DeFazio) Vilela. She was born at St. Luke's Hospital on November 10, 1959. Andrea worked for West Point doing payroll for the cadets in her 20's, and then started working for IBM as an Electrical Engineer Technician. She retired from IBM and started working for Global Foundries. Andrea graduated from Marist with high honors with her Bachelors of Science in 2010. She was also inducted into Alpha Sigma Lambda. Andrea was such an incredible person. She cared for her family, friends, and her dog always. She always knew how to brighten someone's day and make them feel so loved. Andrea treated everyone with kindness and respect. She was extremely strong, kind-hearted, selfless and smart. She was just an all-around beautiful person. Andrea is survived by her husband, Vincent S. Granieri Jr.; her mother, Lucy M. Vilela; daughters, Kim-Marie and Samantha and step-daughter Kayla; sibling, Joseph Vilela; grandson, Anthony Archie; and her fur baby dog Winston. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Andrea will be reunited with her father for Father's Day in heaven (her father passed away when she was 15 months old). Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, June 24 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh, with burial following in Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor. - November 10, 1959 - June 18, 2021
