James Anthony Lander (AKA Jim, Jimmy, and J.L.) of New Windsor, NY passed away on June 19, 2021. He was 77 years old. Jim was born on April 9, 1944 in Newburgh, NY to the late Anthony and Helen Lander. He grew up on Oak St. surrounded by his grandparents, graduated from Newburgh Free Academy High School, and spent four years in the U.S. Navy, stationed at the U.S. Naval Facility in Argentia, Newfoundland. Following his Navy career, Jim was a distributor and warehouse manager at NY 7UP (Joyce Beverages Inc.) and later was employed at Canada Dry. Dad/Grandpa/Pop-Pop Jim was a loving, supportive, and devoted father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, an avid animal lover and pet owner, a passionate weather aficionado, a history enthusiast, and he very much appreciated the simple things in life. His favorite past-times included spending quality time with loved ones and forming sentimental memories, vacationing with his daughters in Florida and Hawaii, BBQing and cooking, fishing, treasure hunting, and the great outdoors. He enjoyed football and baseball, but particularly enjoyed being on the side lines of his children and grandchildren's games. He was our #1 fan and the feeling was mutual. He will be terribly missed. Jim is survived by his two daughters: Michelle Lander of Seattle, WA and Jeanne Branca with husband Fred Branca of Patterson, NY; four grandchildren: Nicole, Micaella, Emily, and Brantly; brother: Gary Lander and wife Roseann of Salem, SC; nieces and nephew: Kimberly, Michael, and Virginia. Visitation will occur from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m., with sharing time at 6:00 p.m., followed by the eulogy at 6:45 p.m. on Monday June 28, 2021 at the Brooks Funeral Home in Newburgh, NY. Online condolences can be expressed at www.Brooksfh.com - April 9, 1944 - June 19, 2021

The Lander family would like to express their sincere gratitude for everyone’s thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. We also thank the VA Medical Centers for all of Jim’s care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jim’s memory to the American Lung Association.
