Jeanne M. Sherman of Newburgh, NY, died peacefully at home on July 6, 2021. Jeanne was born in Newburgh, NY on October 9, 1926 to Walter and Katheryn Peel. Jeanne graduated from Newburgh Free Academy and was employed by the New York Telephone Company for 38 years, retiring in 1983 as a Supervisor. She was quick to remind all in the family that she had been retired for as long as she had worked. Jeanne was the glue that held our family together. She was a single parent for 12 years before marrying the love of her life, John Sherman. She had to raise four boys on her own while working a full time job with the phone company. Often challenged by the typical teenage boys' issues, Jeanne had a calming but commanding presence that earned the love and respect of all who knew her. Jeanne and John retired together and enjoyed traveling, especially with their grandchildren. Two weeks of every summer were spent with their grandchildren down at Wildwood Crest. One trip to Ireland also included three of the grandsons. There are stories and pictures to remind all of the fun that was shared with "Nana". Jeanne is survived by her sons, Michael Fescoe (Melanie), Budd Lake, NJ, Lynn Fescoe, Liberty, NY, Randy Fescoe (Beth), Newtown, CT, Greg Fescoe, New Windsor, NY, her daughter Joanne Murphy (Richard), Davie, FL, sister Mary Peel, Cromwell CT, grandchildren, Michael Fescoe (Robyn), Peter Fescoe (Lina), Meghan Fescoe, Todd Murphy (Marie), Jonathan Murphy, great grandchildren Owen Fescoe, Noah Fescoe, JJ Murphy, Andrew Murphy and Avery Murphy. We would be remiss if we left out the "fifth son", Bobby Hatfield, longtime friend of the family. Jeanne was predeceased by her husband John Sherman, son John Sherman, parents Walter and Katheryn Peel, brothers Walter and Francis Peel, sisters Agnes Vandermark and Clare Peel. Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh, NY on Monday, July 12th from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at Saint Patrick's Church, 55 Grand Street, Newburgh at 10:00 AM. Entombment ceremony will take place following the Mass at Cedar Hill Mausoleum 5468 Route 9W in Newburgh. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in Jeanne's and Lynn's names to the New Hope Community, Loch Sheldrake, NY, www.newhopecommunity.org - October 9, 1926 - July 5, 2021
