Dorothy "Dottie" Caputo, 92, of the Town of Newburgh passed away on June 26, 2021 with her family by her side. Daughter of the late Willis and Loa (Lyman) Neverless, was born on June 11, 1929, in Huron, NY. She was their only child. She was married on July 25, 1959 in Newburgh to Vincent "Ray" Caputo She graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1947. She was quite the athlete, competing all 3 years of High School on the soccer, volleyball, softball, and basketball teams. Dottie was currently employed by Campbell Freightliner of Orange County as a full-time bookkeeper. She took great pride in and was passionate about her job. She loved her bosses and the people she worked with and considered many of them family. Quite simply, "she lived for work." An avid bowler for more than 50 years, Dorothy bowled in more than 11 different leagues over the years. She also traveled far and wide with "the girls" to participate in 31 NY State and 16 WIBC National tournaments. She was also a member of WASA (Women's All-Star Association). She was inducted into the Newburgh Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame on April 29, 2006. Over the years she was also active in the Mid-Hudson Traffic Club and the Republican Party of Orange County. Dottie loved to work and go out with her friends. Whether it be to the movies, dinner, or a party (we all know she loved a good party). Most of all she loved her family. She is survived by two daughters Lisa Wanzer, and her husband Fred, and Denise Carlucci, and her husband Richie. She is also survived by grandsons, Michael Caputo, Garrett Wanzer, Vincent Carlucci and his wife Julia, and Nicholas Carlucci, great-granddaughters, Lilliana and Amelia Carlucci. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Vincent Raymond Caputo, and a grandson, Richard Carlucci. In honor of her wishes there will be no visitation or service. The family will be having a celebration of her life at a later time, date TBD. We would like to create a memorial book. If you have a story to tell, a special memory to share, or a photo that we might not have please feel free to send it to us. Lisa Wanzer, 100 Rock Cut Rd, Newburgh, NY 12550. Thank you to all who loved her and held her dear. She truly was a REMARKABLE lady and will be greatly missed.
