Dominick Palerno - Class of 1941

    Dominick J. Palermo, from Newburgh, NY but residing in Bradenton, FL, passed away on August 11, 2021. He was born May 2, 1923 in Newburgh NY to Joseph Palermo and Antoinette Napolitano-Palermo. Dominick graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1941 and from Orange County Community College. He joined the US Navy Seabees in the summer of 1942 and served 28 months in the Pacific Theater, earning the World War II Pacific Victory and Asiatic–Pacific Campaign medals. Upon discharge he returned to Newburgh where he met the love of his life, Louise Bello. They married in May, 1949. Dominick retired from the City of Newburgh after serving 25 years as the Assistant City Engineer. He moved to Florida in 1985. Dominick is survived by his loving son Joseph Palermo of Bradenton, FL, his brother Thomas Palermo (Linda), sister and brother-in-law Amelia (Bello) and Marvin Hollub and sister-in-law Jeane (Ostrander) Palermo, as well as many loving and caring nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Louise (Bello) Palermo, his parents Joseph and Antoinette Palermo, brother Anthony Palermo, sisters Janet (Palermo) DeAngelo and Mary (Palermo) Carbone, sisters-in-law Marianna (Bello) Foti and Julie (Nono) Bello, brothers-in-law Ernie Bello, Dominick Bello, Michael DeAngelo Sr. and Michael Carbone Sr. Visitation will take place on Friday, August 20 from 4-7pm at Brooks Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, August 21 at 10am at St. Mary's Church in Marlboro, with entombment following at Cedar Hill Mausoleum in Newburgh. - May 2, 1923 - August 11, 2021 - (January-Camera Shy)
