Charles N. X. McAllister - Class of 1982

  Charles Nelson Xavier McAllister was born in Newburgh, NY. He was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy in 1982. During his time in Newburgh Free Academy, he participated in basketball, football, and was a member of the track team. Charles was the 1st track All American from NFA where he ranked 2nd in New York State and 9th in the nation in the triple jump. After his graduation, He attended Virginia State University graduating in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts in Hotel Restaurant Management. After graduating VSU he held numerous jobs until he was hired by the United States Postal Service where he worked as a postal clerk for 27 years. During this time his love for martial arts lead him to study Tang Soo Do for 20 years. He attained title of Kyo Sa Nim and subsequently his 4th degree of black belt. As a Kyo Sa Nim he taught martial arts to members of his community at Hong's Karate School for many years and met the love of his life, Beth Anne Brown, eventually leading to their marriage. In addition to martial arts, Charles's hobbies included biking, hiking, camping, reading, comic books, enjoying music, fabricating tools for self-defense, and most of all being with his family. His infectious smile, laughter, and generous spirit touched many people and will continue to do so. Charles was pre-deceased by his mother, Phyllis Jean McAllister and sister, Phyllis Giselle McAllister-French. He is survived by his wife, Beth Anne; son, Xaivier, stepson, Damien Femiak, daughters, Tatiana and Tabitha; father, Pastor Nelson McAllister (fiance Judy); brothers, Elder Jason Andrew McAllister (Vanessa); pastor, Markus Alexander McAllister (Gigi) and sister, Monet Lamour; in addition to many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and members of the Newburgh community. May God forever bless him and his family. Mr. McAllister will have a Walkthrough on Friday, August 13 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Calvary Full Gospel Church, 359 First Street, Newburgh, NY. Celebration of Life service will take place at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 14 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 76 First Street, Newburgh, NY 12550. Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Middle Hope, NY.
