Alexander William Gilkeson of Newburgh NY died August 18th in Erie Pa after battling the insidious disease of addiction. He was 27 years old. He was born March 15th, 1994 in Ft. Stewart Ga. to parents Alan Lee Gilkeson Jr. and Cynthia Maria Gilkeson. Alex graduated from Newburgh Free Academy and attended Orange County Community College. He had great aspirations tragically cut short. Watching football with his father and talking politics with his mother were among his favorite activities. He loved the Jets and Yankees and hated Tom Brady. Alex had great success canvassing for local Democratic leaders and was an avid supporter of Bernie Sanders. He enjoyed cracking jokes, drinking coffee and making a mess of his Step Mom's kitchen. He is survived by his father and step mother, Alan & Rita Gilkeson. Mother and step father Cynthia Gilkeson and Paul Andrews. Siblings Cypress, Jeremy, Terry, Jasmyn, and Lana. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 28th, 2021 at 4pm, at the Unitarian Universalist church in Rock Tavern NY, located at 9 Vance Rd.
