Myra Smith Dickson - Class of 1952

    Myra S. Smith Dickson, a lifelong Newburgh resident, passed into the spiritual world on September 2, 2021. Born March 11, 1934, in Newburgh, NY, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Vera (Davis) Smith. Myra was raised by Ma & Pa Smith, Lester, Dora and Blanche (Keek) Smith. She married the love of her life Thomas F. Dickson Jr. on March 19, 1955. Tom predeceased her in 2006. Myra was the Store Manager at Kriesel Showrooms and finally retired from Gross Service Center Inc. Myra's loves were her family, reading, vacations at Lake Vanare Cabins, Florida February, Girls Dinner at Vesuvios. Myra was a member of the Good Will Fire Ladies Auxiliary and Gardnertown School PTA. Myra is survived by two sons, Thomas III and Wanda Dickson of Newburgh, John and Diana Dickson of Montgomery, and daughter, Cheryl and George Gross of Dingmans Ferry, PA; seven grandchildren, Zachariah and Trish Dickson of Wallkill, Dena and Michael Clifford of Wappingers Falls, Chris and Katherine Vriesema-Magnuson of Vancouver, BC, Canada, Thomas Dickson IV and Melissa Bernardini of Newburgh, Jennifer Dickson of Newburgh, Brandon Dickson and fiance Rachel Knuth of Montgomery, Taylor Dickson and boyfriend Daniel Fenton of Montgomery; great-grandchildren, Alexandra Dembinsky, Samantha Dembinsky, Cameron Dickson, Oonagh, Aoife and Saoirse Clifford; two sisters-in-law, Jean Ambrosetti of Newburgh, Barbara and George Czinkota of Bonita Springs, FL; two cousins, Marlene Day and Sandra VanAmburgh of Newburgh; and many nieces and nephews. Myra was predeceased by her brothers Charles (Chuck) and Claude Smith. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2021 from 4PM - 7PM at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh. A Funeral Service will be held immediately following at the funeral home. Burial to be held at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Myra's name may be made to Boy Scout Troop 4027, Jim McDonald, 4 Rayland Road, Newburgh, NY 12550.
