Timothy Fogarty - Class of 1963

        Timothy Robert Fogarty, of Cornwall, NY, passed away on September 13, 2021 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh NY. He was 76 years old. Born on September 3, 1945, he was raised in Newburgh, NY, and lived in Newburgh for most of his life. Tim was the second of 4 children, born to Joseph P. and Jeanne Dominick Fogarty. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. He was assigned to the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne Division), earning a Purple Heart. His time spent in the army were some of the proudest years of his life. After his 3 years of military service, Tim earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Buffalo State College and a Masters Degree in School Administration from New Paltz State College. He taught English at North Junior High School in Newburgh for many years before becoming an Assistant Principal, also at North Junior High School. After retiring from the Newburgh School District, Tim began an 18 year career with Pius XII Youth and Family Services (now Catholic Charities) in Goshen, NY, first as the Marketing Director and then as the Supervisor of Student Assistance Services. Additionally, Tim volunteered as a certified mediator for 28 years for the Dispute Resolution Center in Goshen, NY. He provided mediation to families and received the Ramlow Award for Outstanding Mediator in 2007 & 2014. Tim loved his family and is survived by his wife, Kathleen Fogarty, daughter Jennifer Stevenson and her husband Michael of Campbell Hall, NY, son, Timothy Fogarty of Cornwall, NY, grandchildren Molly, James, and Sam Stevenson of Campbell Hall, NY and Keira Fogarty of Cornwall, NY, brothers Peter J. Fogarty and his wife, Patrice, of Amelia Island, Florida and Joseph P. Fogarty and his wife, Karen, of Slate Hill, NY, and sisters-in-law, Linda Fogarty and Lisa Daily, both of Newburgh, NY. Tim was predeceased by his parents and his brother Kevin B. Fogarty. Tim will be remembered for his sense of humor and mastery of Irish joke telling. He was an avid Giants fan and loved his many trips to Bermuda. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Tim’s name can be sent to the Newburgh Chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America at: VVA CHAPTER #537, 370 N Montgomery St., Newburgh NY 12550 Visitation will be held Monday, September 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home with a funeral home service at 7 p.m. open for family and friends to share, as well as listen to Tim's favorite songs. Burial with honors will take place Tuesday, September 21 at Orange County Veterans Cemetery at 11 a.m. - September 3, 1945 - September 13, 2021     Visitation will be held Monday, September 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. with a funeral home service at 7 p.m. open for family and friends to share, as well as listen to Tim's favorite songs. Burial with honors will take place Tuesday, September 21 at Orange County Veterans Cemetery at 11 a.m.
