I befriended Joe while while we were both attending Orange County Community College together. I was right out of high school, NFA 1969, and he right out of the Navy, as head electrical tech on the USS Enterprise (consequently OCCC waived most of his first semester). He was larger than life, always friendly and helpful. His knowledge of electronics was outstanding and he helped any classmate that need it. He got me a job after classes and weekends where he was working, a small private store/deli in New Windsor. We also did some deer hunting together. Graduation was sad as we all went our separate ways. He has always been in my memories and was saddened to see that he had passed away, after finding him in his NFA class yearbook. He was a great guy!
