Ida May Ostrander Mazzarelli - Class of 1944

  Ida May Mazzarelli, age 95, originally from Newburgh, NY, died peacefully in Colorado Springs, CO, surrounded by the love of her family on October 26, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Ostrander and Charles Ostrander; her daughter, Joan; her son Stephen; and her three brothers, Charles, Jackson, and Alson. She is also predeceased by her husband, Frank C. Mazzarelli, Sr., of Newburgh, NY, whom she married on June 15, 1947. Ida May is survived by her children, Elaine (Mazzarelli) Anderson, of Colorado Springs, CO; Frank (Carla) Mazzarelli, Jr., of Mechanicville, NY; Gary (Melissa) Mazzarelli, of Broadalbin, NY; and Jeff Mazzarelli, of Ballston Spa, NY; daughter-in-law, Ruth Mazzarelli, of Longmont, CO; her two sisters, Margaret (Ostrander) Ruff, of Sun City West, AZ and Jeanne (Ostrander) Palermo, of Atlanta, GA; 10 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.The second oldest of six siblings, Ida May was born on April 21, 1926 in Newburgh, NY. She graduated from the Newburgh Free Academy and was married to her husband, Frank, for more than 50 years. Ida May worked as a bookkeeper, and she and Frank raised their family in Newburgh, where they, along with Frank's brother Mike, owned and operated the Newburgh Country Club and the F&M Trim and Body Shop. Known as "Mom" and "Nan" to so many, she was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Ida May enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family, and playing cards with her friends at Coburg Village and MacKenzie Place. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church in Newburgh, NY, on Monday, November 8, 2021, at 10 am. Following the mass, a private burial service for family and close friends will take place at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ida May's memory may be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
