Francis R. Cornelius, 82, of Wintechog Road, North Stonington, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, November 2, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife, Veronica M. (Hepworth) Cornelius of North Stonington, his sons, Francis Cornelius II, wife Debbie, Paul Cornelius, wife Amy, of Westerly, his daughter Hope Mitchell, husband Andy, of North Stonington, his two surviving brothers Donald Cornelius and James Cornelius of Florida, and his eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was pre-deceased by his parents, three sisters and one brother. Francis Cornelius was born in Newburgh, NY, on July 24, 1939, the son of the late Donald F. and Nancy B. (Wells) Cornelius. Francis was a member of the United States Navy SeaBees, served during the Vietnam War. For many years, he was an Inspector at Harris Graphics in Pawcatuck, CT. After 30+ years working in the industrial printing press industry, he retired to Florida where he was an avid golfer and enjoyed his days on the course. Frank was member of the Free Masons of Rhode Island for 49 years in Charity Lodge #23 and also completed the 32 Degree of Scottish Rite. Funeral service with full military honors will be held at the Rhode Island Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI.
