Nicholas Deciutiis - Class of 1941

      Nicholas Joseph DeCiutiis went home to be with the Lord on January 17, 2022. He was 98 years old. He was born on April 9, 1923 in Newburgh NY to Marie Sylvestri Benevenuto and James DeCiutiis.He served honorably in the United States Airforce. On October 28, 1948 he married Mary(Molly)A. Ring. They raised their three sons in Newburgh, moving to Poughkeepsie in 1963 where Nick and Molly had their family home. Nick and Molly gave their boys a lot of fun adventures; swimming, picnicking, camping in Lake George, watching the winter sports at Bear Mountain State Park. Nick ran his own reupholstering business prior to moving to Poughkeepsie and accepting a job reupholstering at Jetco Auto Upholstery. After Jetco went out of business Nick continued his craft from his home into his mid-90's. He enjoyed bowling on Fridays nights with the men's league. Nick and Molly traveled to Florida many times to visit with their son Nick. Nick had many, many enjoyable meals with his good friend Tony Demateo after his beloved wife Molly passed away on December 6, 2004. He also enjoyed meals with his sister Rose and sister-in-law Pat, and many others over the years. Nick enjoyed traveling to Italy five times in his 80's with his son Nick. Nick fully embraced life, always making the best of every situation, and enjoying the people around him. He was joyful to the end, and loved by many. Nick is survived by his sister Rose Graziano and brother Frank Benevenuto, his sister-in-law Patricia Ring, his sons Dan(Laurie) and Mike, his grandsons Craig(Shauna) and Mike, his great granddaughter Annalise, nieces and nephews, and many, many friends. Nick is predeceased by his parents, wife Molly, son Nick, and his siblings Ann Kirchner, Marie Casucci and Frank DeCiutiis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 18th at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church in Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
