Marlene Davis Day - Class of 1956

    Marlene Davis Day, 83, entered into rest on March 24, 2022. The daughter of the late BJ and Edith Lee Lee Davis, she was born October 5, 1938 in Newburgh. She was married to the late Robert Day for 55 years. Marlene was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, Class of 1956, and was a speed skater with the Delano Hitch Club. She was a retired bookkeeper for Warehouse Furniture and Kreisel's Furniture, and was a member of Sacred Heart Church. Marlene loved spending time with her family, and going on vacation to the beach was one her favorite things to do. She loved watching figure skating and the New York Yankees. You could always find her in the kitchen cooking something delicious! Marlene was loved by everyone she met and will be missed greatly. She is survived by her son William Henderson and daughter-in-law Suzanne Curtis Henderson of Newburgh; her sister Sandra VanAmburgh of Newburgh; grandchildren, Amanda and Lori Henderson; and nieces and nephews, Susan VanAmburgh, who was the daughter she never had, Debbie Kress Cotini, Michael VanAmburgh, Robert VanAmburgh, and Richard Kress. In addition to her husband Robert, she was predeceased by her sister, Wilma Kress, and her brother-in-law, Robert VanAmburgh. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 30 at Brooks Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. A service will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 31 at the funeral home, with burial following in Calvary Cemetery. - October 5, 1938 - March 24, 2022
