Matthew William
Hey, of the Town of Newburgh, NY, entered into rest on April 16, 2022. The son
of the late Bertram and Francis (Herbst) Hey, he was born October 12, 1933
Newburgh, NY. Matthew graduated from NFA in 1951 and received his Bachelor of
Science in education from Suny Oswego, and proudly served in the U.S. Navy in
the Seabees Unit. He was employed by Avon as a Draftsman, was a Vocation
instructor for NYUPEP, and Projectionist, set builder and spotlight operator at
the Paramount Theater. As an active member of the community, Matthew volunteered
in the Emergency department at St Luke’s Hospital for many years, was a Boy
Scout leader for Troop 18, a supporter of Upstate Home for Children Springbrook,
an actor with the MMBC theater group, and a member of Moulton Memorial Baptist
Church where he served as a Deacon and served on the boards of Trustees,
Christian Education, and was a Sunday School Teacher. He is survived by his wife
of 65 years Jacqueline (Rossman) Hey; his children: Tyler Hey (Barbara) of
Alabama and Darryl Hey (Glynnis) of Town of Newburgh NY; grandchildren: Stephen
(Joleen) of Missouri, Meredith Grant (Scott) of Alabama; great-grandchildren:
Abigail Hey, Winston Hey; step great-grandchildren: Dominic Grant, Brooke Grant;
brother: Robert Hey (Carol) of Arizona, and nieces and nephew. Visitation will
be held from 11 am – 12 pm on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Moulton Memorial
Baptist Church, 54 Old Little Britain Road, Newburgh NY 12550, with a service at
12 pm. Entombment will follow in Cedar Hill Mausoleum, Newburgh. - October 12,
