Marlene "Dee Dee" Griffin of Newburgh, NY, entered into rest on Friday, April 22 2022. She was 83. The daughter of the late William and Florence Griffin, she was born on May 12, 1938 in Newburgh. Marlene was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy. She had worked for the same employer, Hudson Valley News, for over 50 years. Her first and only job, Marlene worked her way up from office worker to Branch Manager. Marlene loved to garden and was an avid reader. She also loved spending time with her family, especially doting on all of her nieces and nephews. She is survived by her brother, Oliver Griffin and his wife Nina Griffin; nieces: Geralyn Cunningham, Wendi Atkins, Jodi Whitehead, Randi Quick, Jenna Cunningham and Kelly Cunningham; and nephews: Gerald Murphy, David Murphy, Anthony Paonessa, John Paonessa, Peter Cunningham, Jacob Walsh and John Walsh. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings: William Griffin, Dorothy Siskowski, Virginia Murphy, Florence Atkins and Arthur Griffin. Visitation will be held from 10 am – 11 am on Wednesday, April 27 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, followed by a graveside service and burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh.
