Margaret M. "Peg" Sharp Bausback, 78 of Slingerlands, passed away on May 20, 2022, at Albany Medical Center after a long illness. She was born to Stuart and Grace Sharp (Groves) on February 8, 1944, in Newburgh, N.Y. In 1966, she married her husband of 56 years, Allan Bausback. She moved to the Capital District in 1967, where she happily raised her family, and earned her bachelor's degree from Russell Sage College. Peg lived a full life sparked by her passion for early childhood education. She was a teacher at Hamagrael Preschool in Delmar from the early 1980s until she retired in 2008. Nothing pleased her more than seeing the smiling faces of all those three and four year olds every day in the classroom. She was especially delighted when her past students have recognized her as a guiding influence in their lives. She enjoyed the cultural arts and fine cuisine. One of her favorite trip destinations was Montreal, Quebec and she enjoyed visiting the Clark Institute in Williamstown, Mass. She supported local theater, especially Mac-Haydn Theatre in Chatham, and the Capital Repertory Theatre in Albany. She was an avid reader and enjoyed a good movie. Peg was an avid sports fan. She cheered on the Siena Saints basketball team, and was a season ticket holder since the 1970s. When she wasn't spectating in person, she would often be found watching basketball, golf and tennis events on the television. She relished the yearly family vacations to the beach in Stone Harbor, N.J., always feeling content listening to the waves crashing, feeling the sun in her face and the sand under her feet. Peg was predeceased by her only sibling, Stuart Sharp of Holland, Mich. She is survived by her husband, Allan Bausback of Slingerlands; and her daughters, Debra Bausback of Glenmont, and Natalia Bausback of Slingerlands. Calling hours will be held for friends and family at Applebee Funeral Home in Delmar, on Thursday, May 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Peg's family would ask you to consider making a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. www.applebeefuneralhome.com
