Richard Sansbury "Rich" - Class of 1967

Richard J. Sansbury,
72, a lifelong Town of Newburgh, NY and area resident, entered into rest early
morning on Saturday May 21, 2022. Son of the late John R. Sansbury and Sarah
Frances (Patterson) Sansbury, he was born November 8, 1949. A graduate of
Newburgh Free Academy he was on the football team and he worked at Costa
Beverage. Upon graduation he attended the State University of New York at New
Paltz. Richard served in the United States Army and received an Honorable
Discharge. He was also a member of the United States Army Reserve in Bullville,
NY. He married in 1970 and is survived by his wife and longtime love Pat
Sansbury, a daughter Heather (Sansbury) Lombardi and Michael Lombardi, and son
Patrick Sansbury and Ushma Sansbury of Coconut Creek, FL; four grandchildren:
Michael, Lorenzo, Parisha and Paxton; nephew John J. Meade and niece Christina
Hagen; his beloved coton-de-tulear, Ana; and several very close friends. Richard
worked 41 years at Central Hudson Gas & Electric as a Relay Foreman. He was on
the Executive Board and Negotiating Committee for IBEW local 320 working to
enhance the quality of life for hundreds of employees throughout the Hudson
Valley. He was on the Board of the Valley Central Youth Football League and he
coached a team for many years. Along with good friends, they created the Valley
Central Youth Football League Field on Berea Road in Walden NY. Richard was also
part of the S.A.F.E committee that funded the Valley Central School District
Budget in 1997/1998. Richard will be missed by all who knew him. He was a quiet
man with a great sense of humor and a big heart. He had a fierce love for his
family and his close friends. He was a die hard New York Yankees and New York
Giants Fan and had a love of Harley Davidson Motorcycles He was an avid lover of
the outdoors, spending much of his time at Winding Hills Park in Montgomery with
his dog Ana. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his sisters Joan
Budziak and Sandra C. Meade. Cremation and Celebration of Life Ceremony will be
private, held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations
may be made to the American Heart and Lung Association. - November 8, 1949 ~ May
