Ann Cassidy Tierney of the Town of Newburgh, passed away on June 5, 2022 after a long illness. She was 89. Born on January 3, 1933, Ann was the third daughter of William and Pauline Cassidy, with her sisters Wilma Drake, Barbara Hansche and Valerie Cutler surviving her. Ann married Joseph M. Tierney in 1954 at St. Mary’s Church where she remained a devoted parishioner until it’s closure. She was predeceased by her cherished husband Joe in 1985. A devoted, selfless and generous wife, mother, grandmother and volunteer, Ann leaves behind four children, nine grandchildren, one great grandson and dozens of silver bowls and trophies from her victories at the Powelton Club with “18-hole ladies golf league”. Ann was elected “Athlete of the Year” in her senior year at NFA and excelled in all sports her entire life. Water skiing, snow skiing, ice skating, basketball and softball were all easy for her. She was famously pictured on the cover of a Catskills Mountain Ski Map in 1959, because no photographer could pass up her pronounced natural beauty. A lifetime of volunteerism, perhaps 40 years, with the St. Luke’s Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, became part of her story. In her senior years, always the competitor, she kept active with doubles tennis and Duplicate Bridge, which was a particular highlight for her that allowed her to maintain a connection to the special gals of whom she was very fond. Ann’s fearless devotion to Motherhood and Marriage will long be remembered by all her children, Mark Tierney of Newburgh, Lynn Hastings (spouse Steve) of Wallkill, Michael Tierney (spouse Kelly) of Garrison, Alan Tierney of Montgomery. Grandchildren Joseph, Shannon, Hillary, Abby, Megan, Michael Jr., Mackenzie, Kaylyn, Logan and great grandson, Olias. Ann is predeceased by son Joseph Tierney in 2020. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Patrick’s Church, 55 Grand Street, Newburgh, NY 12550, Thursday June 9, 2022 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Marlboro, NY. - January 3, 1933 - June 5, 2022
