Virginia Risio Cavallo - Class of 1947 - As per her brother's obituary (Ralph Risio - Class of 1950 http://www.nfayearbooks.com/mboard3/msg/5752.html ), Virginia has passed.

Virginia Risio Cavallo - After a very difficult 2 years of medical complications and a prolonged stay at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, Virginia passed away on Friday, September 5, 2014. She wanted to live and enjoy life. During her cardiology team consult, she told the doctors she wanted to be better so she could have a margarita. They broke out in laughter and said they would try their best to make that happen. Virginia successfully completed a specially-designed surgery and received a new heart valve and stent placement. She unfortunately succumbed to pneumonia afterward and lost her fight for life several days later on September 5, 2014. In her best years, Ginny loved nursing, and she did it the old-fashioned personal way that was truly comforting to both patient and family. Her stellar bedside manner was appreciated by all who knew her and therefore, influential medical professionals scheduled surgery around her availability as a private-duty nurse. She enjoyed sewing fashion apparel for herself and daughter and inserting "Made With Love by Virginia" specially made labels to her finished products. She loved traveling to the Caribbean islands and Hawaii and even made a trip to Italy to see the waterfront Columbus statue being built in the marble quarries of Carrera. She traveled the northeast as a Girl Scout troop nurse with her daughter during the St. Francis School years, and traveled the Hudson Valley hauling teenagers and equipment as the manager of the teen band "This Side Up" for her son. She was always the fun mom. She loved the whole ordeal of cooking up a big pot of sauce with a treasure of different meats and then divvying out the perfect assortments in her freezing containers so everyone could have their favorite kind. It will truly be missed. She enjoyed her friends and family . Thank you to Aunt Margie and Andrea for all your support. Thank you Andrea Campolo and Cyndi Mack for your tremendous support in dropping everything and sitting with me during my mom's final hours. Thank you to the nursing and physical therapy staff at Wingate Beacon who worked so hard to make her a surgical candidate. Thank you to the healing angels at Columbia NY Presbyterian for all they did to try to help her and especially Dr. Kodali and Dr. George for trying to make her life better. Survived by daughter Patricia Cavallo of Newburgh, sister-in-law Margie Cavallo of Newburgh, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son Joseph Cavallo, husband Michael Cavallo, sister Mary Campolo_and In laws Angelo Cavallo, Molly Cavallo and Ross Cavallo. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
