Jane Conklin Giaimo - Class of 1954

Jane
Conklin Giaimo passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 15, 2022. The daughter
of Lu Lu Gibson and Ira D. Conklin, Sr., she was born on May 13, 1936 in
Newburgh, NY. Upon graduating the Newburgh Free Academy in 1954, she went to
Orange County Community College. Upon graduating college, she worked for the
family business, Ira D. Conklin & Sons, throughout her entire lifetime. She also
ran the NYS Thruway gas stations in Plattekill, Modena, Malden, and Ulster for
many years. She also co-owned two lounges in Newburgh with her husband, Mario.
Jane was an avid bowler, golfer, and long-time member of the Osiris Country
Club. Anyone who knew Jane knew that she was the life of the party. Jane enjoyed
travelling with her husband Mario and their family and friends on trips all over
the world. In her later years, she retired and moved to Florida, where she lived
for 20 years. She recently moved back to Newburgh to be closer to family. She is
survived by her stepson, Bob Giaimo and his companion, Patty, of Goshen, NY;
grandsons Marcus and Zachary, of Newburgh and Pawling, NY; granddaughter, Erica
and her husband, Deacon, of Connecticut; great-granddaughter, Eliza, of
Connecticut; sister-in-law, Priscilla Conklin, of New Windsor, NY; sister, Irene
Detoro, of Newburgh; sister Kathy Wahlund, of Woodstock, NY; nephew, Ira Conklin
III and his partner, Mary Beth Maio, of New Windsor, NY; and numerous cousins,
great-nieces and great-nephews. She is predeceased by her first husband, Mario;
her companion, Richard Taylor; her brothers, William Conklin and Ira D. Conklin,
Jr., and nephew, Edward Joseph "EJ" Conklin. Visitation will be held at Brooks
Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, on Monday, August 22 from 12:00 - 2:00
PM, entombment will immediately follow at Cedar Hill Mausoleum, 5468 Route 9W,
Newburgh, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a charity of
your choice in Jane's name. - May 13, 1936 ~ August 15, 2022
