Kay Elizabeth Fuquay passed peacefully after a brief illness on Monday, August 22, 2022. She is predeceased by her parents Sterling David and Philomena (Pentony) Fuquay, her twin brother David Sean Fuquay and her partner William (Jay) Patterson. Kay was born on 9/21/1954 in Cornwall, NY and grew up in Newburgh, NY, graduating from Newburgh Free Academy. In her youth she worked as a personal care aide for Sylcox Nursing Home, a job she loved very much. Kay was well known for her love of coffee, sweets, and trips to her favorite hair salon. However, those who knew her well recognized and admired her strength and determination that belied her small delicate stature. Kay was a kind and gentle soul that loved animals, especially her cat Sunshine and parakeet Pumpkin. Her bright spirit will be missed. She is survived by her sisters and their husbands Colleen & Roy Shapiro and Jean & Mac Mottley, her niece, nephews and cousins in America, Ireland and England, her dearest friend Jennifer Pignataro and family and her friends at Senior Horizons, Middletown, NY. All those wishing to pay their final respects should gather at the Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Walden, NY for a graveside service to be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 26, 2022. Memorial donations may be made to Pets Alive, Inc. 363 Derby Rd, Middletown, NY 10940 if desired.
