Catherine Rose Fossella entered into eternal rest on September 2, 2022. A lifelong resident of Newburgh, Catherine was born on July 15, 1957 to the late Salvatore and Carmela (Arene) Fossella. Catherine was a gentle-hearted, kind and generous person who truly loved her family and friends wholeheartedly. She had a rare sense of humor and could always make you laugh even in her final days. Eating out, going to the movies and spending time with her cats, especially her therapy cat Polly, were her favorite things to do. Catherine loved to cook and was an excellent party planner. Her Tuna-Macaroni Salad and Eggplant Parmigiana were requested at every gathering. A graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, she went on to work as a Principle Library Clerk at the Newburgh Free Library and later as a Technician at IBM in Fishkill. She finished out her working career by returning to the Newburgh Free Library. Catherine was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh, had a deep devotion to the rosary and loved listening to the Mass every evening with her brother and sister who will truly miss her and keep her forever in their hearts. Survivors include her sister, Maria C. Fossella Dyseven and fiance Robert DiMarco; her brother, Joseph V. Fossella and partner Tina Su; her nephew and Godson, Alexander Fossella; her niece, Andrea Scott Stewart; her Great Nephews, Ethan, Adam and Brady Stewart; her Aunt, Maria Fossella Spano; Cousins, Rosa Fossella (Mario) Retamozo, Fulvio (Gina) Fossella, Rosa (Rocco) DeGiuseppe; her Very Special Friend, Mary Ellen Leimer, who was always there for her; and many other cousins, too numerous to mention, residing in the U.S. and Italy. In addition to her parents, Sal and Carmela, she was predeceased by her maternal Grandparents, Achille and Caterina (Andriano) Arene; paternal Grandparents, Vincenzo and Rosa (Lentini) Fossella; Aunts, Mary Rose and Florence Arene; Uncles, Francesco, Nicholas and Ralph Fossella; and a cousin, Raffaele Fossella. There will be no wake. On Thursday, September 8, from 10:00-10:30 am, family and friends may gather at Brooks Funeral Home, Newburgh, for a final viewing. At 10:30 am, we will proceed to Sacred Heart Church for an 11:00 am Funeral Mass. Burial will be immediately following the Mass in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ASPCA, Humane Society of the U.S., American Diabetes Association or any human or animal charity of choice. - July 15, 1957 ~ September 2, 2022
