Grant Cobbs, Jr., 68 of Newburgh entered into rest on September 3, 2022 in Newburgh, NY. Grant, more affectionately known by his nickname, "Pop," was born on September 8, 1953, in Newburgh, NY, to the late Sarah Pearl Russell and Grant Cobbs. A very gentle giant, and very funny, Grant was easy going. He enjoyed, good food, family, friends, and church. He was caring and mild tempered, even in his final days. Grant attended the Newburgh Elementary and High Schools. He decided to join the US Marines in 1973, and received his honorable discharge in 1975. Committing his life to Christ and regularly attending church played an important role in Grant's life. Heaven was heavily on his mind. Grant (Pop) leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memories: his sisters, Deborah Spearman and his devoted brother-in-law Oliver, of Beacon, NY; Charlene Williams of Roxboro, NC; Marilyn Cobbs-McDuffie, of Delaware, MD; and Robin Cobbs, of Newburgh, NY; his brothers, Ronnie Simpson, of Newburgh, NY; and Michael Grice, of Macon, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Grant was predeceased by his parents, his sister Annamae Grice-Bennett, and brother William Grice. (Camera Shy in YB) - September 8, 1953 ~ September 3, 2022
A visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home on Thursday, September 8 from 10-11 AM with service at 11, immediately followed by burial at Orange County Veteran's Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
