Darilyn Stahl Listort - NFA Teacher

  Darilyn Stahl Listort, 73, of Boynton Beach Florida, passed away comfortably in her home on Saturday, October 1, 2022. Born to Harold & Ingelore Rothschild Stahl on November 23, 1949, in Flushing, NY, Darilyn grew up in Ossining, NY, and attended Orange County Community College, the State University of New York at Oneonta, and Fordham University in New York City. Darilyn was a lifelong student, educator, and author. She earned a teaching degree, guidance counselor certification, and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration and Building Supervision. She served as an English teacher, guidance counselor, and as an assistant principal at the Newburgh Free Academy. In addition to all her duties, she was especially focused on Student Critical Incident Stress Management. She formed life-long friendships with co-workers and students alike. Darilyn was a loyal supporter of and a regular contributor to dozens of charitable organizations, among them South Florida PBS, Doctors Without Borders, the Susan Komen Foundation, St. Joseph's Indian School in Chamberlain, SD, the VFW, Sloan Kettering, the ASPCA, Special Olympics, and NARAL. As a writer, Darilyn coedited her mother's memoir in The Wolves at My Shadow: The Story of Ingelore Rothschild, published by the Athabasca University Press in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Darilyn is remembered by her partner, Dennis, of 37 years, her children Stephen and Allison Duffie, her stepdaughters Cynthia and Teresa Listort, seven grandchildren, Aidan, Henry, Madeline, Max, Jed, Rhys, and Beckett, and a brother, Kenneth Stahl, sister-in-law Sheryl Stahl, niece Rachel and nephew Ian. Darilyn will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. She will be remembered as one of the most selfless and caring mothers and she would want us all to think of her every once in a while, and smile. A Celebration of Life service in memory of Darilyn will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022, at 3PM at Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home located at 599 NE 15th Avenue, Boynton Beach, FL. For those wishing to participate virtually, please join our Zoom (Meeting ID: 3053082006 Passcode: LIGHTS). Friends will be received from 2PM - 4PM.
