Ramona Nono Crisci  of Newburgh, New York passed away peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with Alzheimer's at age 89. On Monday, October 17, 2022, Ramona, or Mona as she was affectionately called, was born on December 8, 1932, in Newburgh, NY to the late Vincent and Adelina (Scalzo) Nono and grew up surrounded by a large family including her six siblings on East Parmenter Street. She graduated from NFA in 1952 and married George Crisci in February of 1955. After her marriage, she enjoyed a short career as a Telephone Operator before taking a break from the workforce to raise her two sons, George Jr. and Michael. She later returned to work and loved her time at Montgomery Ward and the Mid-Valley Mall's J.C. Penney catalogue division. While she was a strict Mom and Nana, who didn't take any nonsense, she loved her grandchildren deeply. Ramona was an excellent cook, though she hated every minute of it, and an avid shopper often found at Penney's or the Bon-Ton with her sisters if they weren't enjoying a coffee at the local Friendly's. She was known for her Sunday dinners and begrudging smile, and her family and friends will miss her dearly. Ramona is survived by her husband of 67 years, George Crisci Sr. of the Town of Newburgh, her son George Crisci Jr. and his wife Erin of Ponce Inlet, FL, her son Michael and his partner Michael of Wappingers Falls, NY, her grandchildren Kaela (Lionel) Moya of Largo, FL, Christopher Crisci of Cornwall, NY, and Isabella Crisci of West New York, NJ, and her great-grandchildren Jude Crisci and Liam Moya. She is also survived by her sisters Sara (Lawrence) Drum of Apex, NC, and Rose Thompson of Middletown, NY, her brother Vincent (Marissa) Nono of Mahwah, NJ, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. She was pre-deceased by her sisters Isabelle (James) Jennings, Gloria (Donald) Curry, and Julia (Dominic) Bello. We would also like to thank the caring staff of 2 West at Sapphire Nursing Home for their compassionate care of Mom during her final days. A wake will be held from 10 to 11:30 AM on Monday, October 24, 2022, at Brooks Funeral Home immediately followed by a funeral and graveside service at Calvary Cemetery. - December 8, 1932 ~ October 17, 2022
