Michael J. DeAngelo - Class of 1964

      Michael J. DeAngelo, Las Vegas, NV, formerly of Newburgh and Marlboro, NY, entered into eternal rest at home October 3, 2022, with his beloved wife of 51 years, Dale Mary DeAngelo, by his side. His passing came after a courageous battle with cancer.

Michael was the son of the late Michael and Janet (Palermo) DeAngelo. He was born November 20, 1946, in Newburgh, NY. He was a graduate of Newburgh free academy’s class of 1964. He was employed at Costa Beverage before serving his country as a member of the United States Navy. While in the Navy, he served on the USS Forrestal. He received a national defense service medal as well as a Vietnam service medal. Upon completion of his service, Michael was honorably discharged. He was then employed by Central Hudson Gas & Electric for next 34 years as a gas mechanic. He was a member of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) Local 320, where he served on the executive board and the negotiating committee for benefits. He was well known and well respected by his peers and co-workers, especially for being a hard worker with a great sense of humor.

Michael was a wonderful family man. His hard work would allow his children to have experiences and opportunities that would enrich their lives and create lasting memories. He was always supportive to his children and their interests.

Michael is survived by his wife, Dale Mary (Swaida) DeAngelo, son, Michael J. DeAngelo Jr and his wife Rosalie of Newburgh, NY; son, Dr. Anthony P DeAngelo and wife Cathy of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Roman, Giuliana, and Giovanni; brother, James DeAngelo of Newburgh, NY; brother-in-law Paul Swaida and sister-in-law Cindy Swaida of W Yarmouth MA; nephews PW Swaida and Thomas Swaida; aunts and uncles, cousins, and close friends. He was preceded in death by brother- in-law Gary Swaida of Massachusetts.

Michael was a parishioner at St. Anthony of Padua church in Las Vegas, NV. He loved his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.

A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be private and held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital ( https://www.stjude.org/donate  ).
