Harold J. Scott - Class of 1953

    Harold James (Gus) Scott, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. Harold was born on March 4, 1935, in Cornwall, New York to the late Agnes and Harold J. Scott. He lived in New York until moving to Wheaton, Illinois in 1954 to attend Wheaton College, from which he graduated in 1957. While at Wheaton, he met his life partner and soulmate Marjorie Rexilius, and the two were wed on June 10, 1957, never to part until her passing on June 2, 2013. He is survived by his son, James (Brandy) Scott; daughter Anne (Brad) Brown; five grandchildren - Jenna (James) VanTholen, Lissie (Dustin) Nelson, and Michael, Meghan, and Elizabeth Scott - and three great grandchildren - Elijah, Joshua, and Agnes VanTholen; and a sister, Nancy (Bill) Rosenberger. Throughout his life and career as a teacher and coach, Harold's love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ sustained him. He devoted himself to service to Lombard Bible Church, his church of more than 64 years, where, among other things, he taught a Sunday School class until the spring of 2020, to many other areas of ministry, and to his family and friends, who relied on his steadfast help, love, encouragement and prayers. His life of love and faith was complete and full, and he rests in the arms of his Lord, a ransomed soul. In lieu of flowers, donations to Lombard Bible Church (111 S. Park Ave, Lombard, IL 60148) or Pacific Garden Mission (1458 South Canal Street, Chicago, IL 60607). A Visitation will be held on December 19th, from 3 PM - 7PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard. Lying-in-State will occur at Lombard Bible Church, 111 S. Park Ave in Lombard, December 20th from 2:00 PM until Funeral Service at 3:00 PM. Private Interment. Harold died in Lombard, Ill, on 14 Dec 2021. He was a member of the 1953 Class at NFA.
