Jett James Diaz, of the Town of New Windsor, entered into
rest, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, December 18, 2022.
He was 14. Son of James A. and Patricia D. (Clark) Diaz, he
was born on May 22, 2008 in Newburgh, NY. To know Jett was to
know love. He brought light to everyone's day. Jett was a
9th-grade honor roll student at Newburgh Free Academy and
worked diligently throughout his battle. He was very involved
in travel baseball, playing for the Newburgh Knights, and most
recently, the Northeast Sticks. Our #88 was a fantastic
outfielder and a patient hitter who honed his craft on the
local fields of New Windsor. "Macho", as he was known by those
closest to him, always encouraged his teammates while on and
off the field. Jett loved Rocky movies, the Hulk, video games,
dancing, and his Mets. In July, he even had the opportunity to
be a Met for a day with the help of the Make-a-Wish
foundation. While at Citi Field, he mingled with his favorite
players, practiced with the pros, and then threw out the first
pitch of the game. Jett was known for his unique laugh and
infectious smile. He had a way of finding the humor in
everything and always looking on the bright side. Jett
continually thought of others first. He was far beyond his
years, remaining positive and poised even in the most
stressful of situations. He was a great friend to many, as
shown by the amazing turnout at the Jog for Jett 5k. Jett's
diagnosis did not slow him down one bit. Trusting in Christ,
he lived life to the fullest and inspired many others to do
the same. In addition to his parents, Jett is survived by his
grandparents, Lt. Col. Thomas Clark, USAF Retired, and his
wife Carolyn and Julia Marie Maduro Diaz; a sister, Jaxyn Diaz
of New Windsor; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Jett was predeceased by his grandfather, Oscar Diaz in 2012. Passing of a NFA Student |
Jett James Diaz
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Jett Diaz.
Jett was a student at Newburgh Free Academy and an avid baseball
fan. Last year, our community came out in droves to celebrate
and support Jett as he battled cancer, during the Jog for
Jett 5K event. Over the summer, Jett was signed to the New York
Mets, fulfilling a dream for Jett to go from Little League to
the Major Leagues. |
