Tina Alene (Amos) Contreras, passed away at her home on Saturday, December 31, 2022. Born on November 13, 1961, she was the daughter of the late Margaret (Herring) Amos and the late Cornelius M. Amos, Sr. She was the companion, wife and one true love of Anthony A. Contreras.

Tina spent over 37 years serving as a nurse at Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital before retiring in 2018. Tina served in different capacities as a nurse at St. Luke's but her longest tenure was in the Emergency Room where she served as a charge-nurse. Her patients and co-workers loved her; and often commented on her efficiency and expertise.

Tina's greatest pride and joy was her family, whom she enjoyed caring for, and spending time with. She was known for her beautiful smile, her incredible generosity, as well as her strength and resilience during a lengthy illness over recent years. Her passions included her strong faith, cooking, interior decorating, movie-going, traveling and a special love for her dog-daughter "Princess Sophia".

Tina is survived by her loving husband, retired NYS Trooper Anthony A. Contreras; brothers, John Michael (Susan), Terry L. (Stephanie) and Loueverette L. (Felicia) Amos. She also leaves four aunts, one uncle, a mother-in-law, several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, one godson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other family, including her St. Luke's Hospital family. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Cornelius M. Amos, Jr., and Rodney N. Amos.

Fond memories and condolences for Tina may be left at Rhodes Funeral Homes, 18 Lake Street, Newburgh, NY. A nursing scholarship in Tina's name will be established at a later date.
