Warren Collins - Class of 1951

Warren J. Collins, 89, passed away on January 14, 2023, at
10:25 pm, Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center,
surrounded by his loving family. Warren was born October 1,
1933 in Newburgh, NY, to Nelson and Dorothy (Matthews) Bleen
who both preceded him in death. On November 14, 1975 he
married Brenda (Roberts) Collins who survives in Lima, OH.
Warren graduated from Newburgh Academy in Newburgh, NY. He
then enlisted into the United States Navy and was honorably
discharged after three years of service. He then enlisted
into the United States Army and retired after twenty seven
years of service. After active duty he was a firefighter for
the City of Newburgh and then after two years he became a
police officer for the State of New York. Later in life he
moved to Oregon and became a police officer in the State of
Oregon. He was also a proud Teamster member in Oregon and
started an elite security company called Star Company in
Oregon. In his spare time he loved fishing and spending time
with his family. Warren was a peoples person and never knew
a stranger. He was a former member of Rose City Corvette
Club and Sherwood Cruisers. A little known fact is that he
played minor league baseball for the Brooklyn Dodgers.
Warren is survived by his wife, Brenda Collins of Lima, OH,
children, Deborah "Deb" McCullough of Denver, CO, Warren
"Jay" Collins of Long Island, NY, Cimberly and Cayla,
William "Bill" Collins of Lima, OH, grandchildren, Robin,
Andrew, Kristina, Steven, Bradley, Allison, Eric, Kathleen,
three great-grandchildren, siblings, Gloria (Leonard) Jewel
of Chicago, IL, Fredrick "Fred" (Gloria) Collins of
Brooklyn, NY, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is
preceded in death by his son, Brian Stine, siblings, Nelson
Collins, Jr., Leonard Collins and grandson, Brian.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 21,
2023 at 4:00pm with Len Roberts officiating the service at
Chiles - Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. Visitation
will be on Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm
at the Shawnee Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial
contributions be made to Wounded Warriors Project.
