Caroline E. Crudele Sarvis of Town of Newburgh entered into
eternal rest on February 11, 2023. She was 87 years old.
Daughter of the late James Crudele and Elvira (Palentino)
Crudele. Caroline was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother
and friend. Her family was her life and enjoyed cooking for
them. She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church in the
Newburgh and dedicated many years as a Sunday school
teacher. One of Caroline's greatest gifts was her athletic
ability to excel nationally in speed-skating. At 11 years
old Caroline started skating at Little Falls Pond, located
behind her family's home in Ducktown. Her father recognized
her ability and passion. His encouragement and her talent
allowed her to shine locally in the Novice Races of the City
of Newburgh Recreation Department. She then became a member
of the Delano-Hitch Skating Club, where she won numerous
prizes and was a top racing performer. At 16, Caroline
qualified to compete in the Silver Skates Derby in Madison
Square Garden where she placed first, establishing a new
record, that earned her engraved Silver Skates. She is
survived by her son, James Sarvis, daughter, Marianne
Sarvis, daughter-in-law, Debbie Sarvis, granddaughters,
Jenna Sarvis, Mallory Sarvis and great grandson, Kayden. She
is predeceased by her beloved husband, George M. Sarvis,
Jr., beloved son, George M. Sarvis, III, sisters; Carmella
Hillman, Margaret Crudele, Rose Crudele, and brother, John
