Robert Malcolm Moore - Class of 1948

      Robert Malcolm Moore, 92, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolinapassed away peacefully March 2, 2023 with his wife of 49 years by his side. The cause was pneumonia. Youngest son of Samuel S. Moore and Elizabeth Gamble Moore of Newburgh, NY. Mal as he was known to his family, breezed through high school at the Newburgh Free Academy, skipping several grades enabling him to join the Navy at 17 where he served with pride and distinction aboard naval ships as an aviation electrician. After 4 year stint in the service of his country, he worked for Ford Motor Company which led to a 17 year career with IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY, traveling through out the country. On a golf holiday through Myrtle Beach he met and eventually married a motel owner's lovely daughter and together for the next 21 years they ran and operated the Carillon Motel at 1406 N. Ocean Blvd. Moving on to a third career, Bob turned his considerable skills and talent to real estate owning several apartment buildings around town. Bob's two older brothers and three sisters have preceded as have a niece and a nephew. He survived by his wife, Judy, nephew James McCurry, neices, Anna Marie Williams, Betsy Dooly, Eileen Lewis, Nancy Victoria, and Pam Hausman. A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 6, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Southern Palms Memorial Gardens, in North Myrtle Beach, SC. In lieu of flowers, plant a tree or donate to your local animal shelter. McMillan-Small Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
